Donor Advised Funds were all over the news in 2017. They make up the fastest growing giving vehicle in the country. Through these funds, families can direct their charitable giving through one institution, advising grants to effective nonprofits.
A Donor Advised Fund set up with the Catholic Community Foundation provides:
Responsible investing. All funds are invested within the guidelines of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Flexible grant making. While we have a strong focus on Catholic ministry, grants from Donor Advised funds may be made to non-Catholic organizations, and organizations outside of Santa Clara County.
Ease of donation. It’s easy to clear securities or other assets through us once, and then facilitate many individual grants.
Matching. Because of our broad grant making, we are aware of effective programs in the valley, some of which may be new to you. For example, you may be very interested in helping parishes administer to their neighbors. We can give insights on what’s happening, what’s working.
Think of a Donor Advised Fund as giving “through” the Foundation. We seek to support your philanthropic strategy.
Right now, we are offering a match for donor advised funds. This is a first of its kind and is being made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor. Open a Donor Advised Fund, and two things happen:
- A $500 unrestricted grant to the parish of your choice, that does NOT come out of your fund, and
- A 5% bonus added to your fund, up to $5000. This may be directed to the qualified non-profit of your choice.
The match is effective for this calendar year. Please call us (408) 995-5219 or visit our website to learn more

Donor Advised Funds facilitate philanthropy and help develop philanthropists. Imagine the possibilities. I hope you will join us.
